Guest Post: A Pretty Piece of Northeast Portland

Kim is one of my favorite bloggers and photographers so when I decided I wanted to invite a couple people to guest post while I made my way around Morocco Kim was the first person I thought of.  I hope you enjoy this little window into her world and take a minute to click over to her blog for more wonderful eye candy!

When Bria asked me to do a guest post while she's away in Morocco, I was over the moon with excitement. But then a sudden sting of panic hit me when I realized I'd been experiencing a little lull in my own photography since the holiday whirlwind. What better way to ease back into shooting daily life than a sun-filled walk around our neighborhood? My husband, Chris, and I started off at Title Wave -- a used bookstore -- and slowly made our way up North Williams, soaking up the sun every step of the way. If you follow my blog, you'll know that two of the things I love capturing most (besides cats and food :) are shadows and graffiti. There definitely wasn't a lack of either one on this gorgeous afternoon.

I made sure to remind myself that after 2 1/2 years in Portland I still hadn't visited the famous French bakery, Pix Patisserie. If ever a photographer needed an excuse to whip out their camera, there's nothing quite like the promise of coffee and treats to make it happen.

As soon as I set foot inside I was shocked that I hadn't visited sooner -- it's a photographer's paradise! Check out that wallpaper. All the "mirrors" are actually windows (except for the big oval one) that let you peek into the back kitchen. It kinda blew my mind.

Bria, thank you so much for having me over on your blog! I hope you enjoyed this little taste of Northeast Portland!

AAAAH! That shot of Chris in the library is MY FAVORITE. Maybe it's the whole "sleuth shooter" vibe, but I absolutely love it.
